Brilliant. Severance hit me hard and I got the obvious parts, but didn’t connect with Marxism. One of the graphic designers I worked with hated corporate life, called our employer the “soul crushers.” She got out and illustrates children’s books, has won awards, and was on the NYT bestseller list with one of her books. Every time I see her, she reminds me to get the hell out of there.

The essaying behind Ribbon Farm did an analysis of The Office, pointing out how the best corporate leaders are sociopaths, as they most effective when they care nothing about their employees. It’s a hoot, and scary: https://www.ribbonfarm.com/2009/10/07/the-gervais-principle-or-the-office-according-to-the-office/
